"JessEm sets pretty high standards when we develop a new tool. The New Mast-R-Lift II adheres to those strong principles. The Mast-R-Lift II has 5 double sealed bearings, providing a lifetime of use even with the heaviest of routers. All of JessEm's lifts have the patented feature of adding tension to the threaded spindle to remove backlash, vibration, and prevent setting changes while routing. JessEm went one step further with Mast-R-Lift II. A new dedicated locking mechanism for heavy-duty, long-term routing operations was added, accessible from the top of the top surface and is engaged with the same crank handle used to raise and lower the Lift. The Mast-R-Lift II also fits most fixed base routers on the market today without the use of an adaptor collar. The unique clamping blocks on the Mast-R-Lift II enable users to use different fixed base routers with the Lift as opposed to dedicating a router. All our top plates on our Lifts are hard anodized. This process is several times more expensive, but we want the Mast-R-Lift II to provide many years of service. Hard anodizing is an engineered surface treatment and not just a cosmetic sulphuric treatment that will wear off. The shafts on the Mast-R-Lift II, like all JessEm's Lifts are pressed into a shaft mount with hydraulic pressure. We don't just thread our shafts to the top plate. By pressing the shafts into a larger diameter mount we are able to attach the shafts to the top plate and fasten in place with more than just one screw spreading the lateral load and providing a very rigid and durable mount that will withstand the toughest routing operations. The Mast-R-Lift II provides for above-the-table bit changes for all routers without the need for bent wrenches. All the machined components are machined on one of our CNC machining centers in Barrie, Ontario Canada, and all the aluminum non wear components are anodized for appearance, corrosion resistance and some wear resistance. JessEm's new 10 Piece insert ring set. The same design as our four-piece set, including JessEm's standard Tab-Lock design, plus a convenient storage caddy that will hold 14 rings in total. The virtues of this finely crafted product have been well-documented elsewhere and, overall, it is probably the best router lift currently made. I won't get into any more praise that what has already been said in all the various reviews here and online, but I will offer two caveats: this can only be used with certain fixed base routers so make sure yours is listed in the compatible model chart, although they do offer a blank mounting ring that you can drill yourself if your model isn't listed. Plunge routers are a different story. I have a heavy duty 3 1/2 hp Porter Cable plunge router (model #7539) that can't be used with this and I had to buy another router motor from Bora ($269 list, $180 on sale) to use with this. If you have a plunge-type router, you would need to buy the Jessum Prestige Lift, but then you can't change bits from above with certain plunge routers, which makes changing bits a chore in my opinion. According to Jessum, even offset wrenches won't work with the Prestige as the router base for many models sits too far below the insert. The mounting plate comes in two sizes, so make sure you order the one which fits your stand opening dimensions. In this price range, you might also want to consider the Rockler Pro Lift, which has a "quick lift" feature and push button insert rings, although they are $18 each ($80 for five assorted sizes). As far as insert rings are concerned, you can save a bit of money if you order this Master Lift as a package with the 10 ring assortment and caddy. One last thing, if you do have a plunge router and don't want to opt for the Prestige Lift, look at the Router Raizer, which is only about $100, although it is a bit more complicated to assemble and requires drilling into your router body.
